Chad received a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and English from the University of Alabama in 2000, followed by a law degree from the University of Alabama in 2003.
Upon graduation, Chad moved to Montgomery to accept employment with the law firm of Capell & Howard, P.C. Now a shareholder in the firm, Chad generally focuses his practice on defending lawsuits involving personal injury and wrongful death claims.
Chad enjoys spending time with his wife, Krystal. They stay busy with their daughters, Savannah Grace (4) and Leslie Claire (3).
Lions Club members will be interested to know that Chad grew up in the same rural Coffee County community that produced our own Clinton Carter.
2nd Vice President-Betsy Bowen
Betsy has been a Business Development representative for Servpro of Montgomery for 5 years and works for her brothers, Brian and Bruce Bowen. She grew up in Northport, Alabama. This is where her dad owned his first franchise, Servpro of Tuscaloosa, when she was in 1st grade. She worked in the business with her dad and did many different job titles from junior high to adulthood. She learned from him to never give up. Unless you have known Betsy for a long time, you probably would not know that her dad had a hunting accident in 1999. The accident left him as a quadriplegic for many years before his passing. He never gave up on his determination, mind and body. This defined her and her entire family and their entire outlook on life. Her moto is “You are never guaranteed tomorrow, but only this moment.”
Betsy contributes time to charities and events such as being on the American Red Cross Board, contributing to the YMCA’s, AUM, Troy University Alumni, Military, vets, and local fire departments, also helping to plan the Cacsce Safety Conference yearly. She also attends association meeting for AGC, NAWIC, MIIA and Montgomery Chamber of Commerce events. Betsy is a former ambassador for the Montgomery Chamber of Commerce.
She also has a degree from Auburn University Montgomery in Early Childhood and Elementary Education.
Betsy’s greatest accomplishment is having been a mother to her adult children, Beth Montgomery, 19, Montgomery, Alabama and Brett Montgomery, 21, Troy, Alabama.

After graduating from Birmingham-Southern College in 2004, Mitchell returned home to Montgomery to pursue a career in Wealth Management. As a Financial Advisor at Stifel, Mitchell has over 13 years of experience in the financial services business.
Other current philanthropic involvement includes: River Region United Way Board of Directors and Member of the Finance Committee at ChristChurchXP where he and his family are members. Mitchell has also served in the past as Chairman of Britton YMCA Board of Directors, Chairman of YMCA Boys’ Work Committee, Member of Childrens’ Hospital Committee for the Future and as a Member of the Sav-A-Life Board of Directors.
Mitchell is married to Mandy and they have 2 children: Elise (6) and Mitchell, Jr (3). Together with his family, Mitchell resides in Montgomery, AL where he enjoys hunting, fishing, playing golf and anything else outdoors.
1st Vice President-David Sanders
David Sanders is a Distribution Control Center Supervisor for the Company’s Central Distribution Control Center. The role of the Central Distribution Control Center is to maintain control of Alabama Power’s power distribution system for the Company’s territory in central and southeast Alabama and the Mobile area at certain times of the day. In this capacity, David also serves as a liaison between the Company’s accounting functions and power delivery in the areas covered as well.
David grew up in Eutaw, Alabama, and graduated from The University of Alabama in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Commerce and Business Administration and a Second Major in Corporate Finance. He graduated from Auburn University – Montgomery in 1991 with a Master of Business Administration Degree.
In addition to various professional responsibilities, David is active at St. James United Methodist Church in Montgomery. He is also a member of the Montgomery Lions Club for which he served as a board member and serves on the Baptist Medical Center East Advisory Board. He is active with several charitable causes and organizations, most notably Brantwood Children’s Home and Young Life-Montgomery. Most recently, he participated in Montgomery’s highly successful 2016 Real Men Wear Pink campaign to help benefit the American Cancer Society.
David has served in a leadership capacity in a number of organizations: president of the Wetumpka Area Chamber of Commerce, president of the Wetumpka Lions Club, past board member of the Elmore County Community Foundation, the Elmore County Economic Development Authority, the River Region United Way, the Elmore County Partnership for Children and Junior Achievement of East Alabama-West Georgia. David is also a graduate of the 2003-2004 Leadership Elmore County class.
David and his wife, Leslie, live in Montgomery and have two children, Brittany Leigh and Blake David, and a son-in-law, Ralph Norman.
Treasurer-W. Michael Shaw
Michael was born and raised here in the River Region. Upon graduating from Auburn Montgomery in 2007, he immediately went to work in public accounting and passed the CPA examination. Soon thereafter, he married his college sweetheart, Tesa. Tesa is also an Auburn Montgomery graduate and is currently a school teacher in Montgomery.
Michael and Tesa have two children, William and Mary Wallace. The family of four currently lives in Pike Road and are members of First Baptist Church of Montgomery.
