The primary focus of Lions Club International is eye sight conservation. The Montgomery Lions Club has been able to expand its charitable work to other key areas in the community due to the success of our Charity Fundraisers, including:
The focus of the Club has been on (1) Sight Conservation, (2) Youth Programs, and (3) Charitable Organizations who need help in meeting their goal of assisting those in need.Recent support includes providing eye exams, eye glasses, and extended eye care to children and adults who could not otherwise afford care. Other efforts include contributions to a number of local groups which are listed below.
The Montgomery Lions Club allocated Community Support assistance to the following organizations in 2018:
Common Ground – Common Ground Montgomery is a non-profit, community development organization located in Montgomery, Alabama. The mission of CGM is to revitalize the Washington Park community. Started in 2006, CGM is a non-denominational Christian ministry that focuses on youth development and leadership, after school programs and camps, mentoring, cross-cultural relationships and racial reconciliation. CGM has spun off one community initiative, a housing renovation and adult financial literacy organization, that has become its own non-profit. CGM’s most recent initiative is focused on providing food, a clothes closet, showers, and clothes washing capabilities to families and individuals in need.
Brantwood Children's Home – Since 1917, Brantwood Children’s Home has been providing a safe, stable, structured environment for abused, neglected and other “at-risk” children. Currently Brantwood serves children and youth ages 10-21. Brantwood offers programs which are designed to help these young people cope with and succeed in society.
That's My Child – TMC mentors youth through arts, Education, and ENTREPRENEURSHIP, while giving them a safe place to develop their talents, and learning new skills to become tomorrows productive citizens.
Child Protect – Child Protect was established in 1989 as a 501(c)3 non-profit agency to assist the Department of Human Resources and Law Enforcement in their investigation of child sexual abuse and physical abuse.
MACOA –The Montgomery Area Council on Aging has served seniors in the River Region area of Montgomery, Autauga, Elmore, Coosa, and Tallapoosa counties for over 45 years.From MACOA's birth in 1972, the agency's mission has been to assist senior citizens by providing services to promote independent living, offering opportunities to enhance quality of life, and increasing community awareness of senior issues.
Triumph Services – Triumph Services provides a holistic approach to support people who have developmental disabilities. The Individual is in the center as the expert on his/her dreams and goals.
Sickle Cell Foundation of the River Region – The Sickle Cell Foundation of the River Region was formed as a non-profit organization on December 9th, 1981 out of the humanitarian concern for Sickle Cell Disease in the Greater Montgomery Area. These individuals believed that an organization armed with dedication, perseverance of goals and a high degree of professionalism could enlist community support for eliminating Sickle Cell Disease. The Foundation’s services have since been expanded to nine counties; Autauga, Butler, Chambers, Coffee, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes, Montgomery and Tallapoosa.
The Montgomery Lions Club allocated visual imapriment assistance to the following organizations in 2018:
Southeastern Guide Dogs – Founded in 1982, they employ the latest in canine development and behavior research to create and nurture partnerships between visually impaired individuals and extraordinary guide dogs. They serve more than 400 graduates across the U.S. and continue to place more than 100 dogs each year into careers benefiting people with visual impairments, and veterans. They provide all of their services free of charge and receive no government funding.
Alabama Lions Sight Conservation Association – The Alabama Lions Sight is unique in that it is an organization in Alabama which provides free eye care to the medically indigent of Alabama. Also, thousands of free vision and glaucoma screenings are conducted in schools and communities throughout the State annually.
Lions Clubs International Foundation – Every day, Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) works to fulfill our mission: "To support the efforts of Lions clubs and partners in serving communities locally and globally, giving hope and impacting lives through humanitarian service projects and grants." Since our founding in 1968 we have strived to sustain Lions’ humanitarian service goals throughout the world, awarding over 12,000 grants totaling more than US$900 million, in the four key areas of sight, youth, disaster relief and other humanitarian efforts.

Southeastern Diabetes Education Services – Southeastern Diabetes Education Services (SDES) educates, encourages, and empowers children with diabetes and their families to live well with diabetes! Living Well Programs include:Overnight Camps, Family Camps, Day Camps, and Camp Community Programs.

Hellen Keller Foundation – Based on the legacy of Helen Keller, the Foundation strives to prevent blindness and deafness by advancing research and education. The Foundation aspires to be a leader in integrating sight, speech and hearing research with the greater biomedical research community, creating and coordinating a peer-reviewed, worldwide network of investigators and institutions.
